Palestine have never reached a major football tournament. They play in red, white and green striped shirts which reflects the colours of the national flag. The shorts are black with white socks.
The Palestine football team currently reside in 176th position of the Fifa World rankings. There highest placing came in April 2006 when they reached 115th place. This was shortly after their record victory, which saw Palestine defeat Guam 11-0.
They were founded in 1928 but not recognised by Fifa for a further 70 years after the creation of the Palestinian Authority in 1998. "Home" matches are played in neighbouring Qatar due to the on-going unrest in the Middle East.
The team reached an all-time high position of 115 in the FIFA ranking in April 2006 after seven years of progression from 191st in August 1999.
