PSV Eindhoven is a Dutch football club based in Eindhoven. They are one of the most dominant sides in the Eredivisie as they have won over 20 league titles. The club usually has their home shirts designed with a red and white vertically striped look. At the moment the shirts are supplied by German sportswear company Puma. You can see the PSV Eindhoven kit especially worn during the club’s home games at the over 35,000-capacity Philips Stadion home ground.

PSV deferred the bespoke red-and-white vertical striping in 2023/24, going all out in red for their Puma home shirt. But it did not totally separated itself from tradition, as the club opted to use a two-tone application for the familiar kit pattern. White was limited as an accent colour, mainly coming from the sleeve cuffs and the neckline panel.

PSV’s 2023/24 Puma away shirt exhibited a luxurious, sophisticated feel courtesy of the off-white base, which was then excellently complemented by the dark contrast of the burgundy sleeve cuffs and v collar. Additional navy accents from the inner neckline panel and the back portion of the collar added to the harmonising colouring detail brought about by the burgundy parts. PSV included the said alternate strip as part of the club’s 110th anniversary celebration.

It marked a departure from previous shirts, considering that past PSV home kits either went with red sleeves or continued the traditional pattern towards that part of the jersey.

PSV Eindhoven Home 2021/22 KitInfluenced by the iconic adidas and Nike ’90s shirts, the PSV Puma home of 2021/22 was predominantly red with four white vertical stripes on the front of the body. The body then used different shades of red to reveal a repeating horizontal zigzag pattern, overlaid with fine lines to create a waving illusion patterned after the wave of the PSV Eindhoven flag. The overall visuals extended to the bottom third of the backside of the wide v-necked jersey. The template back mesh panel and black-cuffed raglan sleeves were plain red.

The striped pattern also appeared at the bottom space of the backside. The sleeves and the rest of the backside were all plain red. Black with a white middle stripe shaded the cuffs and the round-neck collar. Completing the look of the first-ever Puma-PSV kit was the city’s iconic ‘Vibe’ stripes, subtly incorporated all over the shirt as part of the sports brand’s ‘Crafted from Culture’ approach to kit-making.
