Real Madrid were issued a Champions League specific third shirt by adidas which featured an all black third kit with Yamamoto inspired graphics for use in away matches, whilst their standard white home kit was worn in all home matches at the Santiago Bernabeu. Then Champions League holders Real Madrid played in Group B of the 2014-15 Champions League group stage with Liverpool, Ludogorets Razgrad and Basel. Real Madrid's world class squad and star players would see the club win six out of six group stage fixtures and rewarded with an away first leg at Schalke of whom they convincingly overcame 2-0 to take a huge advantage back home to the Bernabeu for the second leg however the expected routine performance wasn't seen as Schalke came close to causing a historical upset in a dramatic 4-3 win for the German who narrowly lost on aggregate 4-5. Madrid would then be drawn against local rivals Atletico Madrid and would subsequently defeat their city counterparts 1-0 and thus handed a draw with Italian side Juventus however that would prove a stumbling block for Madrid who were beaten by the Italian club 2-3 over the two legs.

Pooled in Group B of the 2013-14 Champions League, Real Madrid topped their group containing Galatasaray, Juventus and Copenhagen. Real Madrid beat Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich to reach the final. They played city rivals Atletico Madrid in the final where they won 1-4 after extra time. This made it the club's tenth European Cup/Champions League title, a record for the tournament.

Pooled in Group D of the 2012-13 Champions League, Real Madrid finished behind eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund and above Ajax and Manchester City. Real Madrid then beat Manchester United and Galatasaray to reach the semi-finals. The club lost to Borussia Dortmund 3-4.
