Mamadou Sakho is a French footballer who plays for English club Liverpool and France. Sakho was born on the 12th of February 1990 in Paris, France and he began his club career at local club Paris Saint-Germain. On the 14th of June 2007 Sakho signed his first professional contract at the club.
Sakho made his first start for the French club in a 3-0 win over Lorient in September 2007 where he started in the centre back role alongside Mario Yepes. He became the club's youngest ever captain at the tender age of 17 years and 8 months in his first league match against Valenciennes. The French defender helped the club to win several titles including the 2007-08 Coupe de la Ligue, 2009-10 Coupe de France and following the arrival of several stars including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham he also won the 2012-13 Ligue 1 and 2013 Trophee des Champions.
At the individual level Sakho won the 2010-11 UNFP Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year and was selected in the Team of the Year in the same season. The arrivals of Thiago Silva, Alex and Marquinhos meant Sakho would play more on the bench and he made a move away from his boyhood club signing for English club Liverpool in 2013. He sealed a £15 million. move on deadline day in September 2013. The French defender would compete with the likes of Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure for the starting tow centre back roles.
