Alexis Sanchez is a Chilean footballer who plays for Premier league outfit Arsenal. Having played at Barcelona from 2011 to 2014, Sanchez signed a lucrative 35 million pound deal with Arsenal in July 2014 where he took the number 17 previously held by Nacho Monreal. Alexis Sanchez was a star for Chile at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil helping his side to reach the the Round of 16, in a tournament where the Chileans beat Spain and Australia in the group stages. Sanchez scored two goals at the World Cup against Australia and Brazil.
Sanchez was initially picked up by local club Cobreloa where he made his professional debut at 16. In July 2006, he was bought by Udinese who loaned the striker straight out to Chilean side Colo-Colo. There he scored nine goals in his first and only season with the club. In 2007/08 he was loaned to River Plate of Argentina where he continued to impress. Udinese bought the 19 year old South American over to Italy the following season where he experienced his first taste of European football. Sanchez adapted quickly and in just his third season with the club he was named Player of the Year in Serie A.
On 20 July 2011, Sanchez became the first ever Chilean to play for Barcelona after a Ã¢â€šÂ¬26million fee was agreed with Udinese. He deputised against Real Madrid and scored his first goal for Barca in a 5-0 win over Villarreal.
Sanchez's first international call up came in April 2006 against New Zealand. He also helped the Chile U-20 side to a 3rd place finish at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Alexis Sanchez's speed, strength and dribbling skills make him one of the most exciting young forwards in football to watch.
