Luis Suarez is a Uruguayan footballer who plays for Barcelona and the Uruguay national football team. Beginning his club career at Nacional, Suarez had had spells at Groningen, Ajax and Liverpool. Suarez is world renowned for being one of the world's best strikers. In the 2013-14 season at Liverpool Suarez won the Premier League Golden Boot and Player of the Year awards.

Suárez started his professional career at Nacional, in Uruguay, where he won the national championship in 2006, after that Dutch side Groningen came in for him and he went on to score 10 goals in 29 games for them in the 2006/07 season. His impressive play attracted the attention of other European clubs and he eventually moved to league rivals Ajax, where he would score 81 goals in 110 appearances.
Uruguay forward Suarez was the 2010 Dutch Footballer of the Year, in the January 2011 transfer window he joined Liverpool for £22.8 million on a five & half year deal. At Anfield Luis wore the famed number seven shirt, worn previously by club legends Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish. Suarez can be known as one of the club's greats after scoring over 80 Premier League goals for the club in just over 130 matches.
Suárez made his international debut in 2007, in a 3-1 win against Colombia. At the 2010 World Cup Suarez scored two goals in four games, but will be most remembered for his last minute goal-line handball that denied Ghana a clear goal. Asamoah Gyan missed the subsequent penalty, Suarez was sent off, but Uruguay won the game in the shoot-out to reach the semi-finals. At the 2014 World Cup Suarez broke England's hearts scoring twice to beat the Three Lions 2-1 and to knock them out of the cup. Suarez received another hefty ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini. This in thus forced his move to Barcelona from Liverpool.
