Mamelodi Sundowns Home 2022/23 KitThe Sundowns’ Puma 2022/23 home shirt was part of the ‘We Rise Again’ jersey campaign. No surprised on the colour’s end as it had the bespoke yellow, with the sleeve cuffs and collar adding the secondary theme of green-white-green striping. The highlight of the kit was the debossed prints of anything related to Africa: calabashes, antelope, drums, pyramids, and warriors. History, as well as domestic and continental football success, inspired the design of the shirt.

Mamelodi Sundowns Away 2022/23 KitAs part of the ‘We Rise Again’ jersey campaign, the Sundowns’ Puma 2022/23 away shirt had the same debossed African prints that the home shirt proudly carried all over the kit. As was tradition, the secondary strip was predominantly blue, and for this season was accented by yellow on the sleeve cuffs and collar. The overall message that Puma liked to impart on the kit was that Mamelodi Sundowns were down to conquer all their football battles that season, and that they were not alone in doing so given the backing of their fans.

Mamelodi Sundowns then underwent a period of success gaining their first NSL title in 1988 before further successes in 1990 and 1993. In 1996, the Premier Soccer League was formed and replaced the NSL. Sundowns dominated the new division in the early years with three consecutive titles between 1997 and 2000 along with success in the 1998 BobSave Super Bowl and the 1999 Rothmans Cup.

In 2001, the club had some continental success as they reached the final of CAF Champions League where they were defeated 4-1 by Al-Ahly. The team went several years in the early noughties without making an impression in the league but they managed to win their first league title for six years in 05/06.

The club then backed that up with a second successive title in 06/07. However, that was their last league success to date. A late run in the 09/10 campaign saw them finish second only one point behind first place. They will hope to notch their 6th Premier Soccer League title in 2010/11.
