Sven Bender is a German footballer who plays as a central defensive midfielder for Borussia Dortmund and the German national football team. Having an identical twin brother Lars Bender who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, Sven possesses world class distribution, tackling and intercepting abilities making him one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.
Born on the 27th of April 1989 Sven Bender began his career at TSV 1860 Munchen in 2002 making his professional debut in 2006 before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2009. Bender first played for the club's reserve side before making his debut for the club in 2009. Becoming an instant hit at the club Bender helped the club to win their first Bundesliga title in seven years after winning the 2010-11 Bundesliga. He repeated the feat in the next season helping the side to two consecutive Bundesliga titles.
Bender has become a star at the club since joining Borussia Dortmund teaming up with the likes of Sebastian Kehl, Ilkay Gundogan and Nuri Sahin in the central of midfield. Bender was a key player in the club's 2012-13 UEFA Champions League campaign helping them to the final where they narrowly lost to Bayern Munich 2-1 in the final with the player playing a key part in the final.
Having played for several German youth sides Bender made his Germany debut in a 2-1 loss against Australia in 2011. Sven looks to be a key player for both club and country in future years.
