Thiago Silva is a world class defender who plays for French club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team. In recent seasons Thiago Silva has developed a reputation for being one of the most feared defenders in the game as he has helped his club and country to win several titles including the 2012-13 Ligue 1 and 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Born on on the 22nd of September 1984 Thiago Silva began his club career at RS Futebol before moving to Juventude in 2004. He made his big European move to Portuguese club FC Porto in 2004 but did not feature for the club. He then moved to Russia looking for a new start at Dynamo Moscow but he returned to Brazil with Fluminense in 2006. His career took off at the club where he played over 100 matches in three seasons at the club. He then made a permanent move to Italian giants AC Milan in 2009. At AC Milan Thiago Silva was pivotal helping the club to win several titles including the 2010-11 Serie A and 2011 Supercoppa Italiana. He won several individual awards including the 2011 Serie A defender of the Year and two Serie A Team of the Year awards and two UEFA Team of the Year awards. This prolific form linked the Brazilian to several other European clubs.
In July 2012 Thiago Silva signed for French club Paris Saint-Germain for €42 million. Silva made his PSG debut on the 18th of September against Dynamo Kyiv in a 4-1 trumph at Parc des Princes. Thiago Silva was a key player in the club's 2012-13 campaign helping the club to win the Ligue 1 title and reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Thiago Silva made his debut for Brazil in 2008 and he went on to make several more appearances in the following years. He scored his first goal for his nation in August 2010 against the United States and he now acts as Brazil's captain.
