Arda Turan is a Turkish footballer who plays for Spanish giants Barcelona and the Turkey national football team. Beginning his career with Istanbul side Galatasaray Turan is considered to be one of the best Turkish footballers of all time.

Arda is a product of the Galatasaray youth. He was promoted to first team by Gheorghe Hagi in 2004–05 season, making his official debut against Bursaspor in a Turkish Cup match on 22 January 2005. He had a spell on loan to fellow Süper Lig side Manisaspor in the second half of the 2005–06 season. He was recalled for the start of the following 2006–07 season and quickly broke into the first team. At the start of the 2009–10 season, Arda was handed the captaincy of Galatasaray, and was handed squad number 10, which had previously belonged to Metin Oktay and Gheorghe Hagi, having previously worn number 66.

In the late hours of 9 August 2011, it was announced that Arda would be joining Atlético Madrid for a fee of €19 million plus bonuses, making him the most expensive Turkish footballer of all-time. He was handed the number 11 shirt and made his 2011–12 debut on 28 August 2011 against CA Osasuna, coming on as a substitute in the 61st minute. He made his UEFA Europa League debut on 15 September against Celtic, starting the game and assisting a goal scored by midfielder Diego. Arda's number was changed from 11 to 10 before the 2012-13 season. Arda's dazzling performances and incredible ball control through his time at 'Atleti' earned the player a move to the passing master-class of Barcelona in a deal worth over €34 million ready for the 2015/16 season.

Arda is a Turkish international regular, having made over 50 appearances for Turkey at senior level. He made his debut in the 1–0 friendly victory over Luxembourg on 16 August 2006, having worked his way through the youth national team at the under-19 and under-21 levels. He scored his first international goal on 25 May 2008 in a friendly against Uruguay. He scored the Turkish national team's 600th international goal in a 2010 World Cup qualification game against Estonia on 5 September 2009.
