The club's most major domestic honour arrived in 1984 as the team won the Spanish League cup with victory over Atletico Madrid. This led to UEFA Cup participation the following year but the club were eliminated in round one. Valladolid were relegated again in 1992 but bounced back to La Liga the following year. The club managed to stay in the top tier for ten years albeit mainly in the bottom half. In 2006, the club had one of their best campaigns ever. The team won the second tier with a record 88 points with them going 29 games unbeaten. Since their return to La Liga, the club has struggled to make any impact with two 15th place finishes. It currently looks as if the team may be on for a return to the second tier in 2010.
The Spanish club holds the record for the most number of unbeaten matches in the Segunda Division with 29 in the 2006-07 season and the earliest promotion in day 34 our of 42 also in 2007.
Real Valladolid are a Spanish football club who were founded in 1928. The team began life in the Tercera division (4th tier) until they were promoted in 1934 to the Segunda league. The club's early history is somewhat unspectacular. They managed to win the second tier in 1948 and 1959. On both occasions this saw them back playing their trade in La Liga. However, this relative success didn't last for long as Valladolid played in the second tier throughout the majority of the 1960s and 1970s.
