Marco Verratti is an Italian footballer who plays for Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain and the Italian national football team. Having began his club career in Pescara in 2008 Verratti is considered to be one of the most highly rated Italian footballers in world football.
A centre mid by trade Verratti began his club career at Pescara in 2008. At a young age Verratii was described to be a technically gifted playmaker with notable passing skills. Verratti developed in the Pescara youth system, making his first team debut in the 2008Ã¢â‚¬â€œ09 season at the age of 16. He became a regular starter for the club before being scouted by several big European clubs in 2012.
On 18 July 2012, Verratti signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1. He made his debut with PSG on 11 August 2012, playing as a starter in the Ligue 1 match against FC Lorient at the Parc des Princes in Paris. He went on to make 39 appearances during the 2012-13 season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League campaign, playing 9 games. Verratti performed well in the centre of midfielder playing alongside the likes of Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi.
Having played for Italy at several youth levels Verratti made his debut with the Italian senior team in the friendly match loss (1Ã¢â‚¬â€œ2) against England in Bern, Switzerland. On 6 February 2013, Verratti scored his first international goal in a friendly against the Netherlands when he scored the 91st minute equalizer in the game that ended 1Ã¢â‚¬â€œ1. Verratti looks to be a long term replacement for departing Pirlo and De Rossi in future years.
