Aston Villa 23/24 Home Kit
Aston Villa once again had their home shirt produced by Castore for 2023/24. It subscribed to the traditional design of a claret body with light blue sleeves, with minor claret trims giving the raglan sleeves an interrupted look. A tonal sound wave graphic pervaded the claret body, capturing the passion and energy of fans while they sing the iconic ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’ chant at Villa Park. The shirt debuted the all-new circular club crest, which was a tribute to the 1982 European Cup-winning squad. Signing off the overall look was the small white Villan lion symbol at the back below the collar.
2022/23 Aston Villa Home Shirt
The Aston Villa 2022/23 home shirt was the club’s first under the Castore brand. Its classic combination of a claret body and light blue sleeves opted for a cleaner application, devoid of striped or other design elements. The shade of claret was deeper compared to previous iterations. The light blue collar piping completed the construction of the jersey.
2021/22 Aston Villa Home Shirt
Aston Villa’s Kappa home shirt for 2021/22 was one of the kits in claret and sky blue, the former specifically for the body and the latter for the raglan sleeves. Making the jersey distinct from the others in the said category was the alternating vertical stripes of light and dark shade on the body, with each containing a middle pinstripe of opposite tone.
2020/21 Aston Villa Home Shirt
Villa wore a Kappa-produced home kit for the 2020/21 season. The shirt had sky blue raglan sleeves with wide cuffs and a claret body with tonal vertical pinstripes pattern. The design of the round collar was unique, with its height decreasing as it approached the middle of the neckline and its colours being claret at the front and back and sky blue at the sides, consistent with the colours of the raglan sleeves. The entire backside was clear and only had a small iconic lion appearing right below the neckline.
Men’s Aston Villa Shirt
Aston Villa originally played in deep red and blue colours which were from the old school of the founders. The club went through a spell of changing home shirts from black to claret, blue, white, chocolate and light blue before switching to their synonymous claret shirts with blue sleeves.
The name ‘Villa’ derives from the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel which was used by the original members of the club. The club are nicknamed the ‘Villans’ or the unused ‘Lions’ which is featured on their crest.
Aston Villa wear a distinctive claret and sky blue top, due to the Villas early success as a football club. West Ham and Burnley went on to adopt these colours for their teams kit. It is said that the colours were chosen because they reflected the clubs attitude to drinking red wine whilst admiring the sky behind the glass.
Members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel in Aston, Birmingham, formed Aston Villa in 1874. The Aston Villa cricket team were looking for a way to stay fit during the winter months and decided to adopt the new sport of football. The Villa play their home games at Villa Park, Trinity Road, Birmingham.
The club record for a signing was 28 million pounds to Bentford for Ollie Watkins who pulled on the Villa strip in September 2020. The claret and blues highest transfer fee earned 32.5 million pounds, when Christian Benteke went to Liverpool in July 2015.
