Zambia Shirt on eBay

Zambia are known as the Copper Bullets (Chipolopolo), this stems from the fact that copper is the countries major export and the quick players in the Zambian team. Tragedy struck in 1993 when a plane bound for a World Cup qualifier against Senegal, with the national team on board crashed off the coast of Gabon, 30 people died including 18 players and the national coach. A rebuilt team almost won the African Nations Cup in 1994, only to narrowly lose to Nigeria 2-1, despite the loss, the players were already set in the hearts of their nation.

The Zambians have yet to qualify for a World Cup Finals, coming within a point of making it to the 1994 tournament via their African Confederation group. Chipolopolo's most famous player is Kalusha Bwalya, who avoided the tragedy of 1993, he was due to meet the rest of the team for the game, as he played his football in Europe for PSV Eindhoven.

The nations highest ever ranking was 15 in February 1996 and their lowest ever ranking was 101 in February 2011.

The Zambia national football team currently play in the CAF confederation and they wear orange home shirts with green shorts. Their shirts are supplied by American brand Nike and they recently won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time. The nation have won the COSAFA Cup on four occasions and the CECAFA Cup on two occasions.
