World Shirts Cup Groups C and D Results

We are pleased to announce the results of Groups C and D of our new World Shirts Cup to find the best combination of shirts in the 2010 World Cup. 3142 people cast their vote for these two groups, and two teams were chosen to qualify to the knockout stage from each group. The percentages shows below do not add up to 100% due to the fact that voters were invited to choose two shirt combinations out of four. The Last 16 Knockout Stage will start after we have all the results of the group stage.

England’s Umbro shirts were the clear winners in Group C, with a reasonable advantage over their opponents. Second came the USA with their Nike designs with sash details that have recently been unveiled.

Germany are the Group D winners by a lower percentage than England’s shirts, but still with a clear majority. The Adidas designs of the German club seem to be popular with our users. The place of runner-up in Group D was very closely fought between Serbia and Australia, both having their shirts supplied by Nike. Eventually, Serbia’s shirts won the contest and qualify to the Last 16 Round as runners up from Group D.

Fixtures:

With these results from groups C and D, now we have two more fixtures to be played in the Last 16 Round. The winner of Group C, England, faces the runner-up of Group D, Serbia. The winner of Group D, Germany, will face the runner-up of Group C, the USA.

The two other fixtures from Groups A and B have already been announced:

France vs South Korea

Argentina vs Uruguay

  1. Why do everyone gawk over the England kits? The home is just a plain white polo and the red basically the same minus the collar. There is nothing good about the shirts at all.

  2. Totally agree with MisterBroom. The shirt can be replicated with a printer and a plain collared shirt. It’s boring, overrated, cheap and unoriginal to the max, just like the team. The USA shirt, on the other hand, actually has some meaning to it, and it represents something.

  3. sometimes simplistic design can over power those with a fancy design. Trying to stay relatively nuetral, i would rather buy a plain shirt than that of a quirky “heatbeat” or sash down the shirt. If a design fits with history than it would win my vote all the time.

  4. what does a sash represent coming from a Serb with the cross of our emblem on our badge

  5. Sorry but the home shirt is one of the classiest shirts ive seen in a long while. Thats why i voted for England even though the away is dire

  6. i love how he says theres no meaning to the england shirts. theyre both classic old school England shirts. And the away shirt….does ’66 ring a bell mate? but then again ur countrys never won a world cup have they so you wouldnt know the meaning behind it

  7. OI USA the England shirts are ment to look like the 1966 World Cup winning England shirts so they mean something too (you dozy yank)

  8. Does the slash have a meaning? Yeah, it’s the same design we wore in 1950, does the name Joe Gatjeans ring a bell, “mate”? Yeah, that’s right. Remember THAT match, when a team of high-schoolers and part-time players whipped “the best team in the world” England in the World Cup? You’ve never beaten us in the World Cup (or at anything, including war – we’re not your colony anymore by the way), so why do you all think you will on Saturday? You won’t. 1777. 1950. 2010. What makes it all the funnier is that Cap wants to wear red for the match, which, ironically, is the color the English army wore when Sam’s Army kicked their asses and won our independence. And then we’ll dump some tea all over the England bench, just for kicks.

    ABE = Anyone But England

    USA 2-0 England

  9. To the England supporters, I understand the history behind the away kit and even the home but to me it doesn’t make them fantastic kits. Also, to the same England fans bragging about your 1 (single, only, lone) World Cup win, that’s not much to brag about either when you are considered a favorite for it every single time.

  10. as usual americans are being loud and ignorant ..im acutally surprised an american knows a bit of history as they are usually dumb as f**k and to busy drinking their 2 gallons of coke and bucket of fries ,which to be honest thts all they are really good at i mean just look at america for a second the only countries they can invade are small little islands off their coast ..but dont mention the bay of pigs !!! or vietnam which they got their a** kicked in ….they only way they learn about the world is through that great unbiased news channel fox news ..what surprises me is that england fans are actually biting and arguing back anyone with football knowlegde knows england are the better team and i would be very surprised if they even let in a goal during the easy group games ..come on guys usa amount to a wba or newcastle in terms of quality the likes of barry lampard terry cole rooney johnson will be more than a match ..the only reason they are coming out with comments like this is they know deep down they aint getting out of the group

  11. David, in addition to drinking coke and eating fries, we’re also good at saving your collective asses in times of war (see: both World Wars, and when was the last time England won a war? It was something like 400 years ago, right?), beating you in sport (see: every major sporting event, yes, including the World Cup, where you’ve never beaten us), bailing out your economy (see: the past 100 years), saving your citizens from public execution (see: BP execs after fessing up to the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico). And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We own you, and you know it. We’ll take Group C easily, and the always overrated English will go home (again!) emptyhanded. Sorry.

  12. And one more thing.

If it wasn’t for us, England would be a part of Germany for the past 60 years or so.

  13. I bought the yellow short sleeve Keeper shirt. Best football shirt i’ve worn.
Quality is amazing, the tailord fit feels great.

10/10 to Umbro, best kit in the World Cup

  14. in reply to the annoying americans …u only joined the second world war cause the japs could of invaded ur dumb cuntry up to washington and looked what happened at utah beach when the ameican army refused to use british tried and tested equipment they got slaughtered oh and look what happened when u tried to invade cuba on your own and look what happened when u tried to take over vietnam ..without british brains the american army arent worth s**t …oh and look up falklands war before u say we havent won a war in four hundred years see thats what happens when u use saving private ryan ( a british war story hijacked by hollywood) and band of brothers as your source of learning …when it comes to sport we only play the important stuff in england we call basket ball netball and its played by girls we call baseball rounders and its played by girls ..oh and who started the whole economy thing off dumb american banks who wanted money money money …usa arent a threat we will beat em 3-0 and theyll be lucky to get out the group …england all the way ..god dont bless america cause he is english

  15. USA, your country has a slim chance of knocking over England, but as always you and your countrymen feel the need to yell it from the rooftops, taking away the chance you had to get one over the old dart with grace and dignity. But what is that to some yank keyboard warrior with the IQ of a stapler?

Before you ask, I’m Australian/English. Go ahead with your 3-1, U-S-A or whatever chant you and your inbred buds will rebut with, you are just proving how idiotic I and the rest of the people on this forum think you are. We may not be “World Champions” of baseball and nfl, two sports played by how many countries? But us Aussies (some backpacker yobos aside) are respected around the world, as opposed to the majority of Americans who are despised.

Oh and as for the economy, try being the first OECD country to have economic growth after the downturn caused by your banks greed and laziness, not to mention a fiscal defecit the size of your average budget defecit.

Look forward to hearing from you, if the grease from your buffalo wings hasn’t dripped onto your keyboard and broken it. My tip, 2-1 to Ingerland

The IQ of a stapler? Ouch. I speak 3 languages fluently, for the record (English, Spanish, and Chinese, as well as a bit of Italian and Portuguese) and I’ve been told I’m rather smart. That’s a bit rude that you have to resort to name calling. What’s your IQ, and how many languages do you speak fluently? Get back to me on this one.

“Before you ask, I’m Australian/English. Why the need to call me an idiot, when it’s quite clear your knowledge isn’t 100% correct either? I never stooped that low, you shouldn’t either.

A few things. First, “NFL” isn’t a sport. Football is, and the NFL is much like the English premier league, it’s just an organization. I didn’t know an organization is considered a sport, is the IPL cricket league or the EPL football league a sport? No, it’s just a organization. As a former collegiate rugby player (scrumhalf FTW!), I hate American Football, for the record. Secondly, Baseball, which I also dislike (though it’s more due to the fact that my local team, the Mets, suck), is not limited to America. While it doesn’t carry the status of Football (your football), it still carries a huge following in Central America and the Caribbean (I lived in Mexico for a number of years, and Baseball is massive down there), as well as Japan, where it is one of the two major sports (the same Japan that “the best team in the world” England couldn’t score against and had to rely on shoddy defending to snatch a few OG’s). And Americans aren’t despised throughout, most of my family have lived extensively throughout other parts of the World (Parents lived in China and Hong Kong, I lived in Mexico and Canada, older sister has spent time in France and Brazil), and Americans were loved and treated well. Some of my best friends are English, and they don’t hate Americans. When I’m in London in two weeks’ time I’ll do a little survey about how many Londoners hate Americans, and I’ll post it here.

“Oh and as for the economy, try being the first OECD country to have economic growth after the downturn caused by your banks greed and laziness, not to mention a fiscal defecit the size of your average budget defecit.”

I, too, expressed anger at the de-regulation of our country’s largest banks and corporations. This isn’t a time to discuss politics, though. If you’d like to vent your anger at our banks, you can privately email me and I’ll give you some avenues to productively express said anger. I live not too far away from the epicenter of the problem (New York City) and I can assure you our entire country is pissed off. But, like I said, not the time to discuss politics. Madoff and co. are not welcome where I live, and I can promise you that we hate these guys just as much, if not more than you all do.

“Look forward to hearing from you, if the grease from your buffalo wings hasn’t dripped onto your keyboard and broken it. My tip, 2-1 to Ingerland”

I don’t eat Buffalo Wings, I don’t eat much meat really, mostly fruits and vegetables. I do triathlons so I’m not really able to eat anything really unhealthy.

  17. Ha, ha, ha, ha,
Yet another American who’s been watching too much Saving Private Ryan.
You din’t save us in two World Wars get your facts right.
World War 1 – Britain and it’s Allies although weakened by years of fighting were still able to launch the last main offensive (Hundred Days Offensive) without the use of American troops for over a month.
World War 2 – England and Britain would never have been part of Germany/spoke German there was a little matter of the Battle Of Britain which Britain won meaning that Hitler could never invade us due to lack of air superiority.

USA – before spouting your Hollywood rubbish get your facts right – from someone who has a degree in History

Economies….. don’t get me started it was you lot that got the whole world financially messed up like it is!

As for the kits, the England home and away are class, fashionable, English tailoring something you Yanks wouldn’t have a clue about with your hideous NFL wannabe shirts.

Lastly we will wait and see what happens next week, I for one think USA may shock a few people in this World Cup, But do sincerely hope we show you what a true world class team we are after the rubbish you have spouted on here

  18. I’m English, but I think I can be fairly unbiased about this.

I really like Both England shirts, and what Umbro are doing with kits in general these days. They have all so far been classy and minimalistic, and I like that they hark back to a previous era, particularly the England away shirt.
I do think the USA shirt is the other nice shirt from that group, although I do like Algeria’s as well, but I think Englands are the nicest overall.

I think it is justified that England are fancied to take the group as they are quite clearly the better footballing nation, even though America are much better than people give them credit for (perhaps because they insist on calling it soccer).
It’s clear when you look at the likes of Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard that the USA have talent, but they still aren’t on England’s level.

And as for the war talk, I do believe the SAS train the Navy Seals, because they are the best armed force in the world.
And also, in World War 2, you turned up late and grabbed what glory you could, and we would’ve been speaking Japanese if we had lost, as not even the Germans would have stop those crazy banzai motherf****rs!

  19. USA! You speak 3 languages, i congratulate you on that, I speak conversation worthy Italian and German, but i wouldnt say fluent. But you clearly struggle to grasp the idea of football and which is the better team between England and the US. The main point of my opening paragraph was that USA have a chance of beating England and recording a great underdog victory. This could be done with a bit of class, but people like you hopping on forums with your bravado, ridiculing an opposing country that has achieved far more in the sport than yours have will mean that football followers just have a low opinion of US football fans, rather than congratulating a good win. But I shouldnt be telling you how to act.

Sorry for the confusion about NFL, wouldnt know anything about it, dont have time for a sport. You dont follow baseball because your local team suck, just shows how different the US really is to the rest of the world. Which football team do you support out of interest?

I despise Americans because of their constant attempts to commercialise sports and that monstrosity they called a world cup in ’94. You may be intelligent, but a lot of your countrymen are not, of all the americans i have gotten to know, i have honestly enjoyed the company of about twenty percent tops.

You say its not a time to talk about politics…yet you bring up wars, oil spills and the economy when laying shit on the English, but when the shoe is on the other foot you want nothing to do with it. This is about football and if you want to talk football then i dont think you can deny England having a better record than your lot. Over time they have a better international record, won a world cup and produced better players than the US. You want to bring up that USA have beaten England on a number of occasions, would you consider Alcorcon a better team than Real Madrid? they beat them this season. What about Burnley? They better than Manure? Fact is England has a better record and is a more respected footballing nation and i don’t think you can deny that.

For the record, i think the US shirt and England home shirts are both class!

  20. Are you guys having a cliche and sterotype flinging contest, or is it just sexual tension?

I love the elegant simplicity of the England kits. I would love to see Spurs wear a navy version of the away shirt.
